About the vacancy

Our client is one of the biggest online retailers worldwide with yearly revenue of £2 billion. Built to change the nature of grocery e-commerce globally, our custom-designed solutions are uniquely capable of meeting the complex and growing expectations of shoppers while driving better productivity, greater flexibility, and higher margins for grocery retailers online.

Our product team is almost fully responsible for developing and supporting two critical systems for one of the UK-based online retailers.

We are looking for a person who will help support the team’s SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) squad to cope with the following tasks: performance research and optimization, troubleshooting reliability issues (e.g., high hardware resource utilization), functional debt elimination, taking proactive measures to decrease the load in the support tasks queue, reacting to ongoing changes in the platform the systems work in.

Must have

  • 3+ years of production experience with Java
  • Experience of the full software development life cycle from discovery to deployment
  • Solid knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot
  • Experience with SQL databases
  • Experience with JPA (Hibernate)
  • Experience with JMS (ActiveMQ)
  • Experience using Gradle or Maven, Git, Gitlab
  • Basic experience in *nix command line
  • Experience with CI/CD.

Would be a plus

  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Spring Security, Spring Cloud AWS, Spring Cloud Netflix
  • Experience with AWS services: SQS, SNS, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Kinesis
  • Experience with GCP: BigQuery, GCS
  • Experience with UI frameworks: GWT, ReactJS
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS
  • Experience with Akka and Quartz Java libraries
  • Basic experience with Docker
  • Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic preferably)
  • SRE: SLI/SLO definition and implementation; reliability best practices; system capacity/reliability troubleshooting
